Lena Dunham Edgy in Jeffrey Campbell Boots at 2017 Met Gala

Leave it to Lena Dunham to be, well, Lena Dunham on the steps of the 2017 Met Gala. The “Girls” star joined , , and for the avant-garde themed event, wearing a voluminous gown and — what else — bulky Jeffrey Campbell boots.
Inspired by Elizabeth Kennedy’s fall 2017 collection, Lena’s custom one-shoulder gown had a black-and-burgundy gingham pattern. It also featured a contrasting solid black panel, a sculptural shoulder detail, a peplum waist and a full skirt. She swept her hair up in a loose bun with bangs, which showed off her kohl-rimmed eyes and Cartier jewels.
That much fabric could drown anyone’s figure, but the sculptural details added dimension to Lena’s gown. Her Jeffrey Campbell boots also gave her a bit more height and added a funky element to her dramatic look. These shoes feature chunky platforms, high block heels and a lace-up design.

The 30-year-old actress and writer had a different kind of after-party that night. She was rushed to the emergency room before the event ended due to complications from her endometriosis surgery. She shared a post on Instagram explaining the cause of her abrupt exit and thanked everyone for their concern.
